Skip the Course: 5 Free Repos That Let Claude Edit Your Videos
Resources
- video-use, free, MIT licensed, needs an ElevenLabs API key
- Add Zooms, free, MIT licensed
- B-Roll Finder, free, MIT licensed, no API keys
- Clipify, free, MIT licensed, runs on your own machine
- ButterCut, free core edition, its licence allows commercial videos
You don't need a course to let Claude edit your videos. Five free GitHub repos turn Claude Code into an editor that does the boring part. video-use cuts your ums and dead air, grades the colour and adds captions. Add Zooms punches in on the words you stress. B-Roll Finder puts the right shot on the right word. Clipify turns a long video into vertical clips. ButterCut hands Claude's rough cut back to your editor as a timeline.
You drop your clips in a folder, tell Claude what you want, and it does the rest.
Below is what each repo does, what it needs to run, and how to install it.
What does each Claude video editing tool do?
video-use: cut the ums, grade the colour, add captions
video-use, from Browser Use, is a Claude Code skill with over 29,000 stars on GitHub. Drop your raw footage in a folder, say what you want, and you get a finished file back: filler words and dead space cut, every segment colour graded, subtitles burned in. It works with Codex and other agents that can run commands too.
Transcription runs through ElevenLabs, so you need your own ElevenLabs API key, and your audio goes to their servers.
Add Zooms: punch in on the words you stress
Add Zooms reads your transcript and adds hard punch-in zooms on the words you stress, plus slow pushes on your key lines. It's the quickest fix for a talking head that looks flat. It runs on your machine with Whisper and ffmpeg.
B-Roll Finder: put the right shot on the right word
B-Roll Finder finds b-roll candidates for your talking-head video, you make the final pick, and it places each cutaway on the exact word it belongs to. It needs no API keys. It pulls footage from the web, so check you have the rights to anything you publish.
Clipify: turn one long video into vertical clips
Clipify finds the best moments in a long video, like a podcast or an interview, reframes them to 9:16 with pans that follow the speaker, and burns in word-by-word captions. It runs entirely on your machine, with no cloud APIs. It's written for Macs: on Windows or Linux, remove the -hwaccel videotoolbox flags.
Add Zooms, B-Roll Finder and Clipify were built by Louise de Sadeleer on Tella's growth team, and they're free to clone, use and fork.
ButterCut: Claude's rough cut as a timeline in your editor
ButterCut has Claude build a rough cut and export it as a timeline for Final Cut Pro, Premiere or DaVinci Resolve, so you keep the final say. The free core edition does single-track cuts and targets Apple Silicon Macs. Its licence lets you make commercial videos with it, but it isn't open source.
How do you install the five repos?
Each one installs from a terminal, or you can ask Claude Code to run the lines for you.
video-use. Paste the setup prompt from the video-use README into Claude Code and let it set things up. You'll need ffmpeg and an ElevenLabs API key.
Add Zooms. Needs ffmpeg and the openai-whisper command-line tool.
git clone https://github.com/louisedesadeleer/add-zooms.git
cd add-zooms
./install.sh
B-Roll Finder. Clone it, then point your CLAUDE.md at its SKILL.md (or drop SKILL.md into your skills folder). It uses yt-dlp, ffmpeg, ImageMagick and Whisper.
git clone https://github.com/louisedesadeleer/b-roll-finder.git
Clipify. Clone it into your skills folder, restart Claude Code and run /clipify. It needs ffmpeg, openai-whisper and numpy.

ButterCut. Clone it, then run /setup in Claude Code to install what it needs: Ruby, Python, FFmpeg and WhisperX.
